According to the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, it is mandatory for your workplace to be trained in the use of evacuation chairs in the UK.


This course provides accredited training to demonstrate how to evacuate a building using a chair for anybody who may require support, such as a range of visible or invisible impediments. This training requires re-instating every three years.

  • BS5588-8:1999 – Providing disabled people with measures to be assisted in an emergency

  • Equality Act 2009 – Ensuring that disabled people are not at a disadvantage compared to those that are not disabled

  • DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) – Providing adequate access and facilities for any disabled person who may enter a building
